Description of ๐Ÿ”ด Pyramid RPR425: Clear Red 4-Gauge Power Wire - 25 Feet Oxygen-Free Copper Cable with Translucent Matte Insulator, Chemical and Heat-Resistant

25-FEET WIRE LENGTH: The Pyramid Clear Red Power Wire features 4 gauge thickness. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire. Thicker wire presents less resistance to current flow. OXYGEN FREE COPPER: The power wire features a finely stranded economy OFC wiring that provides a good conductor for power transfer. This is the most economical option when choosing power or ground wire. TRANSLUCENT MATTE INSULATOR: Features a translucent matte insulator, which makes the entire cord extremely flexible. Allows free, wide & seamless adjustment of the required physical properties of this wire such as flexibility, elasticity, impact resistance. CHEMICAL AND HEAT-RESISTANT: The high-grade insulation jacket makes it resistant to tears, cuts, abrasion, water moisture, and oil-based solvents. It is also chemical and heat-resistant making it the safest option for your wiring needs. SOFT TOUCH JACKET: The jacket on our cable is designed with the installer in mind. The flexibility of this jacket allows for easy routing and has low memory. Systems that require more power should consider OFC wiring.

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PERIOD.

. I have not read the reviews on this product, if there were any I would not buy it. False advertising in my opinion. I looked for a 4 gauge primary wire and it landed up top, but as many others have attested, it is NOT a 4 gauge wire. For speakers this may not matter, but if you want to crimp 4 terminals on the ends of the wire it won't work as there isn't enough wire for it to work. What a bite. You shouldn't be able to sell this as 4 gauge anywhere in the description. I do NOT recommend this

Pros
  • SOFT TOUCH JACKET: Our cable jacket has been specially developed for the installer. The flexibility of this wrapper makes routing easier and has a small memory footprint. For systems with higher power requirements the
Cons
  • oxygen free copper line should be considered, requires socket

Decent Power Cord Cable

There are people who say the wire is not as advertised but depending on what you use it for it may be a quality product. I have used it to upgrade the power wiring for my Blazer and Bonneville with upgraded 160w alternators. I made them with really good copper wire lugs and a TEMCo crimp and had no issues with bad resistance or problems with wiring overheating or insulation degradation. I'm not a brilliant electrical engineer like many of the complainers in the reviews, but my equipment givesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • CABLE 25 FEET LENGTH: Pyramid Clear Red power cord is 4 gauge thick. The smaller the gauge number, the thicker the wire. A thicker wire offers less resistance to current
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

Not original 4 AWG in car AV installation

This cable is advertised as a 4 gauge (4 AWG) cable reel. The length was correct, but the actual cable size was 6 or 7 gauge, not 4 gauge. The pyramid seems to think the wire's OD is what you measure since the OD (including insulation) is approximately 4 AWG. I measured this with a Starret caliper and converted it to square millimeters to find the actual cross section and then compared it to the standard listed by UL and several other websites. The wires are actually 6.5 AWG, not 4. If you'reโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

Beware! Not as advertised!

Will be returning because it's not 4 gauge wire and it's not oxygen free (it looks like aluminum wire, maybe copper plated but I didn't cut open the sheath to see). The outer sheath is thick enough that the outside diameter of the wire is the same as a proper 4 gauge, but the actual inside is smaller. Revain needs to update the description before anyone starts a fire with this stuff. Also, the shell feels very stiff and cheap. Shown is the pyramid wire on the left, the 4 gauge (4 AWG Premiumโ€ฆ
