Exploding Baking Pans

This baking pan had been in use for less than 60 days and exploded in my oven. I've only baked at 350 and when I checked online what happened I found that Pyrex products do this quite often. Luckily the furnace wasn't open when it exploded like some other people did. For this reason I will be replacing all my glassware with ceramic.

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Will not fit all

Poor quality Best in Bakers & Casseroles

I use Pyrex cookware for baking. I really like using clean glass when cooking. I preheated a casserole dish in the oven, then placed the marinated meat on a hot glass to see, as I have done in the past. BUT this time, instead of hissing before it went into the oven, it exploded violently all over the kitchen: glass all over the floor and all over the countertops. I don't care about that kind of quality. It worked fine for regular baking when the temp went up and down gradually, but it doesn't…

Very useful, best at Bakers & Casseroles

Over 30 years later I broke the one I had. It was nice to see it's still in production. This pan is great for regular baking, with or without a lid. It fits in my standard over-the-stove microwave. Goes in a regular oven. Handles make it easy to grip with potholders. I especially like this chicken breast casserole with the lid closed. The chicken does not dry out. It's a little plain to look at, which makes it something you probably won't use as a gift. unless you know the person well and want…

exploded! in casseroles

Received this just before Christmas and used it for the first time this weekend. I baked ravioli and tortellini. I was happy to use the new baking pan along with my old Pyrex backup pan. I used this dish for tortellini. Both bowls were filled with sauce and cooked pasta, topped with mozzarella at room temperature and placed in the oven uncovered to heat/melt the cheese. The dishes had not been in place for ten minutes when we heard a loud hum and saw steam coming from the oven. When we opened…

  • Finally bought

  • Good but not great

Stupid plain rice and even a casserole.

We had a round pyrex pan, mainly used for cooking rice in the oven, which accidentally fell and some parts broke off. Since we didn't want our little one accidentally cutting himself on a freshly sharpened surface (or exploding him due to micro-cracks), we decided we needed a replacement. After spending some time browsing through the different options, we settled on this rectangular casserole dish. Since we got it nearly a year ago, we've eaten baked potatoes, buckwheat, BBQ ribs, lasagna, taco

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

It makes me sad to write this. We collect kitchenware, storage glass and bakeware for a while before the brand can go abroad like many American products. I grew up with Pyrex products. It has earned our trust. I read some scary reviews before placing this order but I didn't think Pyrex glassware COULD explode. I've used Pyrex test tubes, beakers, and flasks with high heat work with no problem. This pan arrived with numerous heat loads, likely due to a faulty annealing process. To make matters…

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • poorly thought out
