Great hardware for pfSense

Update: The included mSATA SSD had problems and had to be replaced. Luckily, the board is 2.5" SSD compatible and installing the new drive was fairly easy, although I had to use my own mounting screws. I also upgraded the RAM to 8GB as I didn't want to risk any issues with that as it's not a well known brand. After I installed the spare parts, the machine booted up with no problems. The first impression after using the Q330G4 for a few days was very good. I bought this as a relatively cheap…

Pros
  • AES-NI support for hardware accelerated encryption/decryption
Cons
  • boring packaging

Nice pfSense gateway.

This gateway is very good so far, but unfortunately the supplied SSD failed overnight after the first day. This wasn't a problem for me because I had another spare drive ready, but it will certainly be a disadvantage for those who don't have one as it effectively renders the device unusable until the drive is replaced. I am working. pfSense as a gigabit gateway with the following packages: * Snort * pfBlockerNGCPU The utilization is about 2-3% continuously up to 20% during peak times.

Pros
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4005U processor (3 MB cache, up to 2.7 GHz, Broadwell)
Cons
  • Clarity

Does what it's supposed to do when you know what you're getting

I used to buy other Qotom devices. All of them are really exceptional quality. This device is better than the other model which also had 4 network adapters. The big improvements are that it has an HDMI port instead of a VGA port. (Who actually has a VGA monitor). I booted it up with 8GB RAM and about 250GB SSD. I use it as an OPNSense router and am very happy with it. My only complaint is that I wish there was a power indicator on the front of the unit. They are all behind with network cards…

Pros
  • Can be configured as a firewall, LAN/WAN router, VPN device, DHCP server and DNS server for high performance and high throughput, enhanced security
Cons
  • No color required
