🔒 Quakehold! 4250 Secure-Latch Cabinet Door Safety Lock Review

I originally bought these from Home Depot in 2019 for earthquake safety. The other day when I opened the closet, one of the hooks broke off. Instead of replacing everything, I looked for the same fastener. No wonder almost nobody sells anymore. I will also confirm what another buyer has mentioned and that they are difficult to open. I would suggest looking for a better solution.

They are very easy to assemble and provide a secure closure in the event of an earthquake. We live in Washington DC and have experienced earthquakes before. I was afraid my dishes would fall on my head. These bars give me the confidence that I am safe from it. Opening the cupboards takes some getting used to. The guests are upset because they are not used to it. But my husband and I are fine.

Latches work very well and seem to work if the cabinets wobble but you will have to drill through the wood. So for safety reasons you have to be sure that you can damage the inside of the cabinets. This is normal, however it would be nice to have an alternative attachment system. They work well in solid wood cabinets but may not work if the cabinets are made of chipboard.

This is a solid quality product that does what it says on the tin. It includes 4 latches and all necessary mounting hardware. The locks are strong and seem to last a long time. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and bought these to keep my closets full of vacation essentials from opening and falling in an earthquake. I believe they will withstand most abuse that a moderate earthquake will bring upon them. If it were bigger I think we would have more important concerns than Teller.
