rough cut. Size (10) is suitable for 5 years. Size M (12) barely fits a skinny 8 year old

I first ordered a small (10) parchment for my lanky (skinny) 8 year old. Fits like a wetsuit. I exchanged it for a Paris medium (12) as there were no parchments in the medium. Despite the picture, this is not a clasp. In terms of fit, this environment is as long as a nightgown and yet too tight. It barely fits like a sweatshirt or outerwear.
