The cheapest "smart home " automation for Echo!

Okay, here's the thing. It's the most affordable way to get into home automation with the Revain Echo. I love my Echo but always want more features. With this Wi-Fi connected power strip, I can control my living room light and turn on the radio (or other device) with a simple Alexa voice command. I followed the installation instructions (a bit complicated!) according to the Wink app downloaded on my Nexus 7 (2013). The band is connected to your WiFi and the Wink app in a very strange way. The…

Smart but bulky device works very well

I purchased this item to connect to my Revain Echo via a WINK hub. Good thing they called him Freaky because he's a little bit Freaky. The two plugs can be controlled fully electronically from the hub and are independent of each other. The other two forks are more traditional forks. There is a switch on the side of the device. The first thing you'll notice is that it's very bulky - much larger than a traditional outlet. And the cable is also very bulky. The serpentine configuration of the…

DO NOT BUY. MUST PAY $5 MONTHLY TO USE

UPDATE AUGUST 23, 2020 Wink, the company that manages these products, has now forced its users to sign up for a $5 monthly subscription. Since I'm not paying $5 a month to use a product I've already paid for, my two rounds are now worthless. Of course, my suggestion to everyone would be DO NOT BUY. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I really liked the product. I bought two and they work with no problems and they are very easy to set up. The wink app is also very user-friendly and easy to use. I understand people

Power strips and surge protector

I paid full price for this product, it was no longer the best and kept breaking while "working". I plugged it in and tried using it again and now it turns out I have to pay a monthly subscription to get access to the smart features, which was the only reason I bought the product in the first place. This is the actual theft and turning the product into garbage. Never buy another GE or Quirky device again. If you're selling a product with a key feature, you shouldn't be allowed to discreetly…

What a rip off! Will NEVER connect to Alexa, now monthly fee to use!

I rarely write reviews but their email I received today pissed me off because after 3 years of using it on my phone they changed the turning lights on and off, have decided to use the coronavirus crisis to complain you are not making enough money and are forcing you to become a subscriber, or you are losing the opportunity to use the product you have already paid for . First, it will NEVER connect to Alexa. So part of the voice functionality is an epic fail. I have read all the tutorials on the

HUGE bug in Wink integration

I think it's decent for a specific use case BUT it can't be programmed to directly control a table lamp in Wink's lighting section. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but the only way to control the lamp is with a clever IFTTT integration, which takes 5-15 seconds (and sometimes longer) to turn it on or off whenever you want change it. "Alexa, turn on living room light" is not possible unless you have another device called "living room light" that is turned on by voice, then usually after 10-15…

Once a good product, spoiled by yet another subscription fee.

When I bought it for $20 3 years ago there was no subscription fee to use the smart plug. Then I would recommend the product. Now it costs no money. It's a big, bulky surge protector with no smart features if you don't want to pay a monthly fee. I don't know about you, but I won't pay $5 a month to turn on a fan at night. Especially when other non-subscription smart plug options are available. If they ever decide to ditch the subscription fee, we can revisit this issue. The subscription fee is…
