Mixed Media Favorites

Ideal for mixed media, pages can withstand a variety of overlays.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Identical to inner pocket

Strong cover and cool inner pocket, but pages will warp with the slightest application of glue or water. It should be for mixed media. This is disappointing. If you don't mind slightly warped pages in your magazines, this is a good choice. Otherwise, stick with a brand that has thicker paper that's better suited to mixed media.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Perfect size for sketching, drawing and art supplies

I have a larger 9x12 magazine and while I enjoy working in it, it's hard to carry around. When I found out that this square size existed I had to try it. I love it. He still doesn't take watercolor very well, but he does everything else. It is important to note one important thing: do not use spray ink on two sides at once, it will go through the seam and ruin other sides.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great for an art magazine!

I use it for an art magazine and to try new things from an online course. The paper is beautiful. I apply gesso to the sides first and then use mixed media - acrylic, ink, collage. The paper bends a bit but I like it. My diary is getting a little fat and I love it! I like the pocket on the inside of the case and the elastic strap. You can also decorate the cover and really personalize it. I will buy again. Many pages to fill before I need another.

Pros
  • Good stuff

Square Journaling for Art Paper

This magazine surprised me. I usually buy Strathmore magazines, but saw this one in a mixed media video. The paper is thick enough for all materials, although I haven't tried it with watercolours. I love the style of the magazine with its elastic band keeping it closed. I painted 2 sides with acrylic as a background for the collage and there were no wrinkles, curls or bubbles. The magazine lays flat when opened, and the 16-inch two-sided spread leaves plenty of room for creativity.

Pros
  • Ranger Magazines are designed to highlight your artistic talents, whatever they may be
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Perfect for a collage!

I'm taking a year-long online collage course with a renowned art teacher. She offers to buy them and I immediately went to Revane to look for them. I'm so glad I found them and ordered six straight away! They lend themselves so well to collages, the paper is strong and thicker than what you'll find in most sketchbooks. Although they may not take watercolors very well, I don't mind because I will be making collages on them. Also, there are extra papers in the cute little pocket that I can useโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Ranger Journal delusions Creative Journal
Cons
  • Unsure

3. Ranger Magazine I Purchased

I absolutely LOVE the Ranger Magazine series. A mixed media artist needs high-quality paper that can withstand a variety of wet environments. The first one I bought was the smallest they had and after reading many pages in it I decided to buy the big one (sorry I don't remember the sizes) which I like even more than the small. In the end I decided that I wanted a square one too, because I like working with square faces. If I could give these magazines 10 stars I would because they are worth it.

Pros
  • Size Approx 8.5 x .75 x 8 5/8
Cons
  • Doubt
