Very fragile, not enough software

The display is very fragile and when it's fastened like a hat there's nothing to hold on to. I shattered the glass trying to press it against the board. The data sheet says the controller supports 4 colors and 64 shades of brightness for each color, but the code attached doesn't provide any examples of this, only black and white. I'm not sure if the display itself supports multicolor or not. Other panels using this controller support white, yellow, blue and black. The datasheet also mentions…

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons

Very nice little screen.

Much better than the 1.8 inch TN LCDs occupying the same space. Viewing angles are about 70 degrees around the perimeter. I like this resolution for the small size.

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • Some cons

Works as advertised, did not disappoint

Looks good, the interface is quite simple. Remember that many libraries only support 24-bit and this LCD requires RGB565, just trying to save the next guy some time.

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • -

AOK considering the price

I was hoping to see a higher resolution. Pixels are visible. No Minecraft-style pixelation, but at 32 pixels vertically you know the pixels are there. No complaints considering the low price, I wouldn't buy more, I would have found a unit with a higher rez.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Appearance

like OLED electronics

In the past, the main disadvantage of TFT technology was the low contrast. With In-Plane Switching (IPS), color is induced in the same plane as the backlight (the term would be misleading in this case since the light plane is no longer behind the color plane), resulting in very high contrast. This display looks like an OLED display but without the downsides of fading over time and price. Driver software is widely available - in the picture I'm using an example from Circuitpython for this chip…

Pros
  • Ease of use
Cons
  • Brief instructions

AOK considering the price

I was hoping I looked at a higher resolution. Pixels are visible. No Minecraft-style pixelation, but at 32 pixels vertically you know the pixels are there. Given the low price, no complaints, I would not buy more if I looked for a device with a higher rez.

Pros
  • so far I'm happy
