I quickly found multiple power failures in washing machines, a motor short, loose wires contacting the cabinet, a burned water valve coil, etc. with this insulation tester. This meter comes with a very practical case. should have bought a long time ago.

This gave me a completely wrong reading so I returned it. I ended up borrowing an expensive one that worked. I'm lucky I didn't rip the heating element out of the ground based on the readings I got in the process. I hope I only have one fake reader that made it through production and everyone else can be trusted.

ST-5500 is more powerful and larger than most high-end multimeters. Very durable and exceeds military testing expectations of motors and controllers for heavy equipment. The colleagues were so enthusiastic about the functionality that I had to order it for them. After seeing how well this meter worked, another colleague bought mine, now I need another one. Arrived with a broken stand. Would have kept it anyway but also because of the very inaccurate test results which caused a lot of heartache. Bought to test the heating cable before laying it under the tile. The cable failed this tester (80 MΩ) but passed the test (>2 GΩ) when tested with Fluke and AEMC Insulation Tester. This counter made me spend several days installing it.

My device has never worked as I expected. I bought a used Fluke mesg tester on ebay and have never been happier. I have my original ANPDR-77 flow length meter from when I was in the US Navy in the late 80's and apart from a one time overhaul due to battery leakage it still works. I've learned to buy the best quality tools you can afford and take good care of them because they will likely last you a lifetime. Unfortunately, I didn't have that feeling with this product.
