Update for OEM part

Overall a great deal. It took a bit of work to prepare the original cable for this part. Minor work involved using a pipe cutter to remove about 1 inch of the old piece. I also had to remove the trim, but this piece fits perfectly and works great. Delivery was quick and everything was as described.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some imperfections

Do it yourself and save money! That's easy.

After I removed the broken rod (carefully with a butane lighter), installation was easy. The new hood lever fits perfectly, installs in about 30 seconds, and feels pretty solid. This is a minor update as beautiful aluminum is used instead of the original Bakelite. Saved me a pack.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Functionality

Doesn't fit properly

It's larger than the original and doesn't fit in the pen cutout. I had to carve a bunch of plastic out of the car's interior trim that surrounds it or it wouldn't work properly. But in general, it's much easier than replacing the entire harness. My car broke down so cutting the skin wasn't a problem for me but it might be for you so be aware.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not the best

Save $425.94 just replace this part.

My plastic latch broke so I bought it in red hoping to fix the problem. With the help of a friend who had the right tools, a vise and a round disk drill bit to cut the plastic, we were able to fit the new part in about 20 minutes. The Honda dealer wanted to charge me $425.94 to replace the entire assembly. As long as you have the right tools, you can do this and save money.

This pen is well designed and works!

This is a fantastic replacement grip for my daughter's CRV. I thought it might be difficult, but it really isn't. First remove the kick plate, it will pop out. I then used a pair of needle vises to fully hold the exposed cable. Then I cut off the rest of the handle with wire cutters. Remember that the original handle is not threaded onto the pull rope, it is simply wedged. The new handle snapped directly into place and the two Allen screws were tightened. Hood lock works again!

  • Sleek design

I can easily open the hood of my Civic again

I bought this hood latch handle for my 1998 Honda Civic. A cheap plastic OEM latch broke when I pulled on it one day. This hood latch handle solved my problem. Once I was able to cut off the black plastic tube covering the metal latch wire I installed this handle and now I can open the hood latch without having to use the vise again. I didn't use the 2 set screws provided as I was concerned they might strip the threads and pop out the latch handle so I found 2 screws lying around that were…

Looks great. Install and forget!

I took my car in for brake repairs and more than a week later I noticed my hood was on the ground next to my seat. THE? Eventually, after interrogation, someone admitted that he broke off the relationship - like beyond my comprehension. Since the cable was fine and I didn't want to mess around with a replacement, I looked for a handle-only option and found this one. Unfortunately, this is one of those things that you don't use that often but kind of wish you had to because it works SO well. it…
