RENOGY 3500 48VOLT - Inverter for solar and wind energy

No technical support. I called renogy because I am getting 26-30 volts on the AC input when the inverter is on the input, why is there voltage on that side, is this normal?

Pros
  • handy article
Cons
  • compatibility

Do not buy for solar and wind

I have purchased two of these inverters. The first could not withstand the load and the mppt of the second gave only half the power. The Bluetooth module is absolutely useless.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Upgrades

Worst inverter on the market!

All the low reviews are true, I have 1.8kW solar panels but the maximum this pos will draw is 550W, other inverters I have work fine. Stay away from this POS and renogy!

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Update available

Almost caught fire. I don't trust Renogi anymore.

Almost caught fire. I tested the device and fortunately removed the cover. I felt something then turned off the light and saw that the AC input was glowing red. I wanted to melt the plastic part. They are rebranded as Renogy, the same device is sold on Alibaba for $300, just not under the Renogy brand. The BT app is useless. There are only two mounting holes on the top. There is no way to mount the device in the van. There is no ground for the AC cable. Overall just a bad block. I will order…

Bluetooth is useless, does not charge at full capacity.

At first the device seemed to work fine. However, Bluetooth apps are useless. The apps don't even remotely match the readings on the device itself (incoming PV, etc.). Example: The application reported 429 watts from my array. The device said 768 watts. The rest of the features are just as useless. Also, after a few months of use, I found that my 1.6kW solar array would never produce more than about 700 watts with a Renogy charger. I switched to a Victron charge controller and get full power…

DO NOT BUY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

I ordered one of these as an incentive to retrofit the solar system in my motorhome. I have had many solar panels with an open voltage of around 130 volts. The camper also has a 4000w generator. The idea was to use a solar inverter to extend my dry camping time before running out of gas or needing to change the motor oil in my generator. The problem I had was that the charge control circuitry was defective/faulty or too picky. If at any point it fails for any reason, the generator just happens…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Hard to say
