    Worked fine after modification

    Cut key at local locksmith. You need to transfer the "chip" from the old key to the new key. It's a little ball in the corner of the old key. The new key had to be changed slightly, the button lugs were a bit long and the buttons were pressed all at once which caused the remote to not work.

    Should work as a simple key but proper electronics are questionable

    The key looks like the original but there are slight differences that make it difficult to work with. The button bases are different, so the pins are not flattened like the original, the rubber buttons are stiffer, the rubber insert in the button is thinner. I tried modifying it to work with PCB but I couldn't get it to work reliably. The pay just isn't right. I'll use mine as an emergency key to get into the car if I have to.

    Not a 5-minute solution, but it's worth saving when switching dealers.

    Fits my 2003 Range Rover HSE key which buttons were completely worn out. A few things worth mentioning. * The battery holder and the connected electronic part of your original dongle will be put in this new case. There's also a tiny rice grain-sized proximity sensor that needs to be present for the key to work.
