These should be used with a reptile heat lamp as they don't produce much heat. However, if you use a heat lamp in the same reflector housing, the heat from the heat lamp will burn out that UV lamp. I learned it the hard way. Therefore tip: only use it with a special reflector that dissipates the heat well, otherwise the ballast built into the base will burn out immediately.

I can't say enough good things about these UVB lightbulbs! I use them on white tree frogs and leopard frogs and have seen so many changes on them. My white tree frog used to be very lethargic and tired and he rarely ate. Now he jumps all night and eats like a champ. He also loves to sunbathe in it! Same goes for my leopard frog, he loves it! There is a lot of debate as to whether frogs need UV but in my opinion when I see the amazing results I say spend the money and just buy them! using mine…

I've always used and liked reptisun 5.0 18" bulbs. They fit perfectly in the Exo Terra top and this listing was cheaper than buying 2 Exo Terra bulbs.
