This walkie talkie antenna is a lot thicker than the ones I've had in the past and seems to hold up pretty well. It's hard to say if it performs better than the more expensive ones, but it does the job.

Retevis antennas are very good and work best for those who understand that the antenna needs to resonate with the frequency it is broadcasting. Remove and trim the black tip. Now for retevis: you need to send them straight, not wavy. You have a memory and I don't like walking around with a black 15 inch car hanging on the left.

Bought a set of 5 antennas just over a month ago. I have three antennas left as two fell apart at the base. The antenna worked very well but with moderate use the ABS case on the bottom didn't work well. The antennas simply fell off the radio, leaving only a screw down the barrel and a brass screen attached to the radio. This is not a gear route, just a hot weather rooftop job. I bought these to replace the standard antenna on Retevis series radios (starting with RT21 and later adding H-777). Both models of Retevis portable radios offer a range increase of up to 3 or 3 times the original range. I have since replaced the standard H-777 antennas with the same results. If you need longer range for both receiving and transmitting I STRONGLY recommend this is a fantastic choice and much better than the extra long 15" or longer whip antennas that are also available.
