I'm not a professional welder by trade, I've only welded in my field and I'm tired of wearing gloves! I hold my welding gun pretty close to what I'm welding and I always burn my damn fingers and take off my left glove. I tried sewing a piece of leather to the back of the glove but it didn't work🙄. found it. why didn't I think of that now? Hope the straps hold up. Time will tell, but I'll take the cost of replacing it versus a good set of gloves.

Haven't had a chance to use this, but the physical quality and thoughtful design are evident. They have two 1/2 inch ribs on the inside that conform to the back of your hand so most of the padding isn't in contact with your hand. Less surface your hand touches = less heat transfer to your hand. Intelligent design feature. I bought this pad hoping to extend the life of my welding gloves. I always wear an arc welding glove on my left hand when welding (arc or flash) but have found that under certain conditions the heat/spray is enough to get me to stop welding and cool my hand. This rug has completely eliminated that need. Due to its volume (thickness) it takes some getting used to as it is not as flexible as the glove itself.
