I've used this Ridgid drain auger a number of times. I find it's a good, solid tool that works a lot better than similar, less expensive designs. construction matters.

As described. He is durable. Although it immediately began to rust. Even though they said it won't be updated: so much for durability. After about three uses, the cord detached from the inside of the case and fell out entirely as the sink drain wriggled out of the roof vent. On the positive side we unplugged the cord and cleared the drain but sadly no way to reconnect the cord.

I had one of these locally made ones for $20. It didn't work really well and got rusty after the first use. After seeing a professional plumber use one of these, I ordered one and am very glad I did. The leaves went down the drain in the yard, clogging everything and making the water rise with every rain. I used that and cleaned the drain myself. I saved $350 by making it myself.
