Then I washed it and now it's looking more and more blotchy. I also used a retainer to reduce fading. Surprisingly, the paint didn't flow into anything. So this is good news. I just saved 4 pairs of black jeans with RIT and varnish fixer. I've used Rit paint several times and I'm always happy with the result. My jeans were about 4 years old and 3 of them had faded evenly after multiple washes while the 3rd pair hadn't faded as much, but for some reason one knee had faded stranger than the rest of the pants.
