This lens is amazing! Wide open thing SHARP! Is the Sigma Art lens sharp? no I've also used this lens and love it, but this Samyang/Rokinon lens is REALLY close wide open. At 2.8 it is equivalent to the '85 Art lens. I'm TOO happy with my purchase! I absolutely adore this lens. It's incredibly sharp and does a great job on contrast and image stabilization. I was hesitant to switch from the Canon 6D to the Sony A7iii after purchasing my first two lenses (Zeiss Batis 25mm f2.0 and Tamron 28-75 f2.8), but now I'm quite satisfied. I bought this lens as a portrait lens for my A7R3 - mostly for outdoor natural light - and it gives great results. The autofocus is not lightning fast, but it is quite fast and very accurate (high speed with continuous shooting). The lens is more than acceptably sharp wide open, but it's not clinically sharp, which is nice. The lens gets sharper as you decrease the aperture, even down to f/1.8. The contrast is good. VERY EXCELLENT LENS, but you can make mistakes with the autofocus. (It works fine indoors, but the problem only occurs in strong backlighting, so don't shoot portraits against the sun out of the box.)
