Parts included are complete scrap

I installed 2 of these on my jeep and half the bolts broke during installation. I just tightened them until the bracket stopped flush. I didn't push her at all. They're just made out of junk. Luckily I have spare nuts/bolts.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Defect parts! WTH

Looks like a good product but I decided to fit it to my 4Runner for a trip and one of the 4 anchor bolts was unthreaded. So I go to the hardware store in the morning. Where is the quality control specialist located at Rotopax? I couldn't find a contact number for support in the limited instructions that came with the part.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Nothing here

2 screws engage with little to no effort

Great system but I don't think the mount will hold after 2 out of 4 screws engage with minimal effort using a regular 3/8 ratchet. Even at retail, a set of class 5 carriage bolts costs about 70 cents instead of the junk that comes with it. I hope the insides used better material.

Pros
  • Free for educational use
Cons
  • Small parts

Rotopax cans are great their caps are not that bad

Rotopax cans are great their caps are not that bad. I had to cut and re-screw the bolt on which the locking part rotates. I'm fortunate to have access to a full machine shop which the average Joe probably doesn't have. There are many guides for DIY Rotopax mounts. Check it.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Generally nice but no minor improvements made

The center section needs to be drilled through so you can screw it to something with a thread. A lot of racks are pre-made for Rotopax, but if you don't have a drill there's no point. without using cans.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • No automatic

Strong bond. - Luggage Rack

I installed this on the side of my Jeep Wrangler just in front of the passenger door to hold a spare gas tank. The product is strong and holds the tank tight. Very durable material. Although they are designed for single point mounting, it would be a good addition to offer a ground stabilization point to prevent the ground from vibrating against the chassis. Perhaps a locking mechanism would be a plus; there could be one.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Retail Availability

Ideal for storing gas bottles

About 6 months ago I bought a 5 gallon Roto gas bottle. I wanted a holder but held back because of the price. I've been trying to find something that could hold my gas tank at a lower price but to no avail so far. That being said I would buy 5 mounts for various trailers and trucks but I only bought one and made a quick release mount to move it. As for the mounting - it is very well made and the paintwork is good.

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • Upgrade available

Product expensive and HEAVY

Once you buy a $100 gas can the mounts get just as expensive. Like all Rotopax products, the product is of high quality. The pricing seems to be related to the "what will traffic ever last" theme. The bracket is not aluminum, most likely steel. It's very hard. He's got a job and he's doing it pretty well. While Rotopax is made in the US in Utah, the Chinese knockoffs are probably your best buy. They may not be as strong as Rotopax, but are very useful for carrying fuel around your vehicle.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
