Headsets were good except they didn't work with Midland radios after we bought the cables separately. Now we need to replace the microphones so hopefully they will work with our radios. We had to go to the original Rugged Radios dealer in California to get the right mics. And of course that costs extra

Great product for portable audio and video

This is a great product for the money. They are ideal as hearing protection. The sound quality is excellent for both the 5-pin connector and the AUX adapter. The microphone mouthpiece works great too. Picks up voice clearly and virtually eliminates background noise. The only thing I don't like is the volume control. You only have the volume control through the 5-pin connector. You need to control the volume through the AUX port from whatever device you plugged into it.

50% of me worked.

Bought 4 of these headsets for the crew in the box, 2 of 4 work as stated on the box and the other 2 are junk. able to transmit on both, tried swapping out the cables and radios for known good ones and still nothing, the headsets just refuse to work. I realize these aren't $250 racing electronics headsets, but you'd think I'd need some of these before they broke. sure you're getting quality you can count on.

  • Quality construction

Great headset for the money but you still need to get the right cable!

I drive to the racetrack and we compete. We have identified a need for radios and often the radio itself is difficult to hear due to ambient noise. They do an excellent job of blocking out noise and the microphone also eliminates the nose. You have to have it right next to your lips to understand what you're saying, but that's intentional. The price when purchased with the correct cable for your radios compares well to wired headsets. I have two different radios so I can use them for a long…

Budget Headsets and Mics

First, if you're looking for a headset, this is the best deal you can find. After the first tests I am very satisfied with the sound and the processing quality. For my own purposes, I manage film crews at concerts, which requires me to be able to communicate with the shooters at all the rock venues I shoot at. Very happy with how it protects my team's hearing and also at noisy events. The workmanship seems to be very good, especially considering the price. The only thing I don't like is the…

Very inconvenient, spares available

I've had them for a few months now, I've tried many configurations and spent about $100 to even use them only to find out how inconvenient they are basically useless . I wanted to use it with a portable radio and be able to hear my phone. Aux cords die in minutes on these headphones for some reason and require an amp so I can hear everything even at max volume. I have a bluetooth adapter and it works very well. I have a solid radio adapter for my radio and either the cable or the connector on…

Good headset but bad mic

I use a wireless headset in professional races and this headset provides good hearing protection. Machines are very loud and can cause permanent hearing damage if the sound is not muted. The earbuds on this headset have a firm fit, which is necessary to block out background noise. The microphone in this headset is not very good and produces very poor sound. Despite being a noise-cancelling microphone, it appears to cancel transmitted audio as well. I called Rugged Radio tech support about this…

I wear them all day.

First, these headsets are NOT intercoms. People who buy them for this should read the description more carefully. If you don't know or are unsure, contact the seller before buying anything that doesn't fit your purposes and if you buy anything that doesn't meet your expectations. Don't leave low rating reviews because you don't understand what you are getting. This is your business, not the item or the seller of the item. I use this headset when working with heavy earthmoving equipment. This…
