The tip doesn't get hotter than 105 degrees Fahrenheit >=(

It was very nice to be cordless and portable solder if the tip doesn't work I can't desolder it either I'm very disappointed I used 18V 4Ah 72Wh I have a I pulled a cheap RadioShack iron out of a drawer many years ago after years of neglect and reached the tip still 150F+ on top, and no soldering or desoldering issues I am very dissatisfied with this purchase from Ryobi.

Impressed. Great for light soldering

I only do small soldering projects, usually just wire harnesses and such. I wasn't expecting much from it since it runs on battery, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it heats up in about 30 seconds and has better than expected battery life on a single charge. I was able to put together a few harnesses and it usually takes about an hour, obviously not soldering all the time, but I'd say there were probably a hundred connections and when I was done there was still some charge left in…

Great portable soldering system!

I already have several 18v Ryobi products so this was an easy choice. It heats up quickly and the indicator lights let you know when it's up to temperature and when it's safe to cool down after turning it off. It will solder for hours on a small standard 18 volt battery. Its portability is great for working under a car's dash and it has a nice long cord.
