Suitable for printers, but no longer

Note that this is clearly a PRINTER cable. The USB controller appears to the operating system as a printing device, not a universal serial device. Therefore this cable will not work for whatever devices you want to connect with DB25 cables. Instead, you'll need something like this: Sabrent USB 2.0 to Serial (9-pin) DB-9 RS-232 Converter Cable (CB-DB9P), and finally a DB9/DB25 adapter like this one: StarTech. com DB9 to DB25 Serial Cable Adapter - F/M (AT925FM). This cable is ideal for printers.

  • Computers and accessories
Cons
  • Almost never

It was my second choice - it should have been my first choice

This was my second choice. The first one I tried was from a different manufacturer and didn't save the driver when the USB cable was unplugged and plugged back in. You also had to download and install a driver for the operating system you were using. Out of the 20 attempts I've tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver it only worked twice so after I plugged it in and detected and loaded the required driver it came back with no action have to be done separately. I verified thisโ€ฆ

1998 printer still works on Win10

We have an old 1998 HP LaserJet printer that we are keeping because it still works. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the Windows XP desktop it was attached to, which was purchased in 2002 and was in dire need of retirement. It was just the cable we needed to use this printer with a Windows 10 laptop. We plugged it in, turned on the printer and within a minute Windows automatically registered it as a working printer and it was up and running. I'm amazed it was that easy as I expected to

Pros
  • Cables and connections
Cons
  • Slightly dented
