For first use I placed the mat under our popcorn bowl. The popcorn bowl gets very hot from the popcorn grains. We pop popcorn for 1 minute and 50 seconds. When the timer was running I tried to get the bowl as advertised. The carpet was hotter than a bowl of popcorn! I am totally disappointed as I had high hopes for this rug. I plan to return the item.

Clever idea! I keep a large one in our microwave and use it every day. It is very convenient to lift and carry hot or slippery plates or bowls. However, be careful with very hot items as heat is conducted through the lining. Otherwise I would give 5 stars, also the price seems a bit high to me. To be fair, the instructions suggest leaving hot items for a few minutes to avoid this situation.

The product takes hot microwave food very well and we can serve it right on the table which is nice. Affecting cooking temperature or cooking time is likely to be more accurate. We have pre-programmed timers for popcorn that won't go off like it does when we remove the safe handles. Overall we like Safe Grabs. We can put Safe Grab in the microwave under the microwaveable food container and reheat the food. When the food is ready we just grab the Safe Grab with the food container on it and carry it safely to the table. DO NOT PLACE SAFETY HORNBEAM UNDER MICROWAVE POPCORN BAG AND REHEAT POPCORN IN MICROWAVE! We've tried microwave popcorn twice with Safe Grab. Both times the popcorn burned and the first time the Safe Grab left an unwashable black stain.
