This is NOT an oil pastel!

I bought these "oil pastels" for my kindergarten class. They are too waxy to smear like real oil pastels do. My kindergarten kids just drew them. Absolute waste of money!

Pros
  • Pretty
Cons
  • Small change

It's a great set for the classroom!

I bought this for my students as we sometimes do art projects with our writing. Nice cool set of 12! (I split them in half to make 24) They are smooth and blend the colors really well!

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Can work well for small projects. decay and.

May be good for smaller projects. They fell apart and were a bit dry. They didn't do well with the cool resistive watercolor project I commissioned them to do. They are great for blending and other projects. They were a lot smaller than I expected.

Pros
  • Drawing
Cons
  • Doubtful

Nice to have if you often go through white!

I usually use white when I paint with oil pastels. I bought a set and quickly used all of the whites, barely touching the other shades. I figured the solution to this problem would be a bunch of white, and it worked! I'm happy with the quality as I'm new to oil pastels, I used to only use oil paints.

Pros
  • Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • I can't remember

I like the smooth consistency and it blends well with .

These little ones don't have a lot of pigment but I like their smooth texture and blends well with the water soluble pastels I use. The color is more of a super light gray than white, but I guess that's to be expected from student/junior quality. Pretty good value in the box, but be aware that the size of each piece is definitely "childish". I think about two and a half Sakura pastels would make a portfolio. But at least you can get a pair of one color, so that's the ticket for me.

Pros
  • Art Supplies
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
