I needed these shoes for my daughter to go hiking. were too small and not sure if they would fit someone with wider feet. The way they tie is so that they don't open very wide to fit the foot in the boot.

Salomon Speedcross - THE BEST trail runners. For children and adults. Get it from a very experienced runner

My husband and I both run Speedcross 4's for our daily 4-6 mile runs. I was a little nervous about spending that kind of money on kids shoes but my son slips and slips and falls just as he starts walking cross country with us.
