fresh out of the box. Indeed?!?! A scale manufacturer can't make accurate scales? Its 2 pounds. I don't even know what to say. this is the 2nd in 4 days. don't waste your time.

I had to return this scale. The calibration screw did not work to tare the scale to zero. I was unable to remove the mounting screws to attach the shell frame/plate. The bottom of the scale is unfinished and scratched.
