I wanted a Penn P-10R but waited too long to buy it and they stopped making it. These scales are similar in function which is why I bought them. I use it to bake bread. I learned how to make sourdough bread by watching videos online. It's amazing how many of these videos imply that you should have about 612 grams of flour. Does this mean that if you accidentally put 613 grams in it, your bread will fail? Of course not. My wife, my mother, my wife's mother, my grandmother and women all over the world bake bread without fractions of a gram. While I agree that weight is a better measure than volume, you don't need a scientific scale to bake bread. I actually wanted to know how I would bake bread if my electronic scale battery ran out, so I bought these. I made all the measurements on the lines on this scale and made the same recipe as on the electronic scale. The bread turned out excellent. If you need a scale but don't feel like a mad scientist baking bread, this scale is perfect. It's consistently accurate and has enough range to handle everything I need to bake bread at home without spending hundreds on a baker's scale.
