I recommend avoiding this product. I was trying to install it on a four year old Dell D620 laptop. Installation failed. Reading the Sandisk forums about this product was extremely sobering. But the adapter was recognized immediately and works fine with Dell C620/C820 laptops running Windows XP SP3, which are probably twice as old. At first I thought this adapter was not recognized by my 3 year old Compaq 2700T laptop when I first plugged it in and then I found that it was recognized, when you inserted one of the 6 types of memory cards. When I inserted a Secure Digital card, the adapter and the card's "contents" were immediately recognized. All images of the card have been successfully uploaded to the hard drive. I haven't tried other types of memory cards, but I have no reason to believe they shouldn't perform as well…

This product will not work with my Acura CSX navigation system that comes with the car (like some 8th generation Civic models). So far it has worked with every memory card I've tried (8GB microSD and SD adapter, albeit a bit slower, 2GB microSD in SD adapter and 32MB SD card). In fact I did this basically because my nav box is being replaced under warranty at the dealer and they claim it is not possible to back up my data from my GPS when in fact there is an option to do so via PC do. card slot

I received the unit and had no problem setting it up on my Dell laptop. It has been recognized by the Dell operating system and performs its functions well. The only negative comment I have is that I would like the memory cards themselves to be able to pop back out in the normal way, by gently pushing the memory card in and popping it out.
