Well that's a pretty ambiguous situation. Sangean fixed most of the problems with the 909X but left out many others. Positive: increased sensitivity due to the built-in antenna. First of all I would like to say that I really like this radio, the new version is an improvement over the old model. I think the sound quality is excellent, the new filters are excellent and the SSB reception on the ham radio bands is excellent. The old model (909x) had low sensitivity when using a whip antenna for shortwave and amateur radio reception, while this new model is more sensitive when using a whip antenna, which is a big improvement. This is a great radio. I am a radio amateur and have used many radio stations including the predecessor to this one. The original Sangean 909 has always been an easy-to-use radio with lots of nice features, but it was missing a few key areas, including sensitivity.
