Nicely packaged and scented before the firewood is lit. When burning, it smells of wood. I am very skeptical about this product. (Besides, who in their right mind would shave the edges of a wooden stick to make the pieces rounder? This is FAKE! Do not buy! Is it some other regular wood impregnated with a chemical smell of Palo Santo?!?! Absolutely annoying. I've been burning REAL Palo Santo wood for about a decade and knew it wasn't right without even lighting it. But when I did it ignited too quickly, REAL Palo Santo usually takes 15-20 seconds to ignite due to the aromatic oils in the wood. That is why the burning smells so delicious.
