Nice extra shelf.

I was disappointed with the extension shelf assembly that the legs were meant to attach to, there were no pan head screws that would fit through the top of the shelf where the inserts were at each corner where the screws would be so slid in, to the bottom of the shelf where the legs screwed in to attach to the shelf, so I had to go to a home store to find black pan head screws that matched the color of the legs and the desk was lucky to find what i needed i am happy now but will not buy from…

Great stereo shelf but if you don't buy the base you get your own hardware

The shelf can definitely be used without a base if assembled correctly. My unit does not come with screws and washers to attach the legs - if you read the instructions you will get the hardware with the base which I did not purchase. The box says "hardware included" and I agree this is misleading. For a few dollars and some time, purchase the following screws and washers from the hardware store and you're done: four black 1/4-20 x 2-inch Phillips screws and four 6mm washers (black if you can…

Cannot be used as a standalone shelf without purchasing additional washers

Cannot be used as a standalone shelf as is. I had to go to Lowe's and buy 8 washers and 4 nuts to attach the included legs with the included screws in this kit. Otherwise the legs would sag so much that the unit would tip over as I didn't purchase the base kit either. I have been using Sanus Euro Foundation shelves and shelves for many years. I love the modular design and vibration resistant MDF shelves. On request also with 5 inch props. I have two racks and two additional racks for amps.
