They are more like ordinary colored pencils. not exactly watercolor. They are a bit heavy. I used to use Carand Ache watercolor pencils because they were very soft. I thought all watercolor pencils should be soft.

Terrible. The colors are normal, like a normal colored pencil, but like a watercolor - it sucks. It takes a lot of water to activate the watercolor paint, which saturates the paper. Once activated, the pencil marks are very visible and the color is very, very diluted. They need to change their formula but right now I think they are way below standard. I'm just glad I didn't spend a lot of money.

Bought a few months ago. When I color my adult coloring books I try to mix them up to get really cool color effects. It is great! You can use them as water colors or without water and get deep rich colors! Very smooth, they just slide on the page and if you happen to buy a book with pages that thin (we all hate) they can be used on it (minus the water). I highly recommend it!

Bought without research. I'm new to watercolor painting and wanted more control over my drawings/paintings. So I bought these watercolor pencils to take the risk of drawing my bird drawings. I was disappointed that when my drawings were finished and I added water to create a watercolor drawing, the pencil didn't mix as well as I thought it would.
