UPDATE: Now it has fallen apart twice. The screws holding it together fell out the first time. So we joined it together with Loctite. Now they are separated again. I followed the instructions but the screw in my grip wouldn't come out when loosening it, so I had to remove the pad on the right side of the grip and unscrew that bolt as well. With the entire handle off I tried installing the cup holder on the right side to see if it would fit. There were extra plastic fins on the right side that I cut off with a knife.
