THIN Needles

These needles do the job, making fine stitches on jersey on a conventional machine. The problem I had was that the needles are quite thin and the two I ordered broke fairly easily. Compared to the Singer brand it should have been thicker and stronger despite the size but I was very disappointed with this Schmetz double stretch needle.

Makes a great double stitch.

I used it for hemming and topstitching leggings. It works great and has a really good finish. If you don't have a coverstitch or overlock machine that can do this, this is a great alternative. They're a bit pricey considering you'll likely need to buy a new one for every project. I'll see if they have that needle in chrome so I can get some better use of it.

Pros
  • Sewing supplies and accessories
Cons
  • The cord is shorter than others

Ideal for finishing knitting!

I love it for overcasting knitwear at necklines, armholes and edges. It's never too late to learn something new, I've been sewing for decades, finally tried it after reading the posts. Use wool nylon for the spool, unwind directly from the spool without going through tension, much easier than by hand. Use an empty spool for the second spool of thread if you match in color. A little pricey for a needle, but as it's a specialty product it won't do much good.
