ScivoKaval Silicone Decoration Chocolate Gumpaste Review

Baked my niece's birthday cake with it. They are very durable and easy to use. With a small one you have to be careful because there is very thin between the tail and the body. But no other issues other than this one and once I figured it out it was easy to use.

Works very well with melted almond rind. The thinnest part of the tail and fins are very delicate and easily broken. I made a few mistakes before I figured it out. I love that they give you a size change. Worked well for what I needed.

I used these to make mermaid tail cupcakes for my friends party. It was a bit annoying as I've never made anything like this before, but they were amazing and looked amazing. It's just a little tricky to use fondant and pull them out where the tail starts, but with patience it's possible.

Why 3 stars? The mold is uneven. One end of the tail may not fill properly when trying to cover the tail with a piece of foil or a sticker. Several attempts and there is a whole. If you're just using it for direct stuffing, it might be ok. I have a mold of the same shape that doesn't have this problem.

I wasn't sure what size cupcake toppers would be best but they were both perfect! I ended up enjoying the different sized cupcakes at my mermaid/shark twins birthday party. I've since used them for other things like bath bomb mixes. They are very easy to clean, disinfect and reuse.

Haven't used these molds yet. You are on the skinny side. I have a few mermaid tail molds that are much stronger and thicker than this one, but I can understand the quality of these molds given the price. I'm sure they will still work and it just comes in handy to have lots of mermaid tails when orders for mermaid cakes come in.

My mistake, I bought them thinking I could use them to shape chocolate and they are not suitable for chocolate! Even trying to slowly pull them out of the mold, use chocolate, let them set in the fridge and bring them back up to temperature doesn't work! You can't take out all the chocolate because the mold is too thin where the tail joins! Again, only gum paste or fudge will work, which is exactly what they say about them - so trust them!

Purchased to make melted candy cupcake toppings for a mermaid themed birthday party. The molds were very easy to fill and once the candy melt had fully set it took some practice to get a piece out. Once you're firm, if you slowly pull back the sides and loosen the edges, you'll have a better chance of getting an intact tail. Both sizes work the same. I only use these molds for melting candy so I can't speak for any other purpose. They are the right size for a large mermaid tail cupcake topper.
