The way I envision Noctua

I don't have Noctua as I refuse to pay $15 for a fan, but I installed it to power my Ender 3 Pro CPU case to cool, and it whispers and dumps more air than the stock fan. You'll need a buck converter to drop the power from 24 to 12 if you want to use it that way.

Pros
  • Fan and Cooling
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Great fan, better than Noctua of the same size.

I bought this fan because I was disappointed with the chunky 3 pin to 2 pin adapter I had to use with Noctua. I have a small case that one of these fans fits in, and all the extra cables that Noctua had because of the extra length the pin adapter adds are unacceptable. This fan is as quiet as the Noctua, pushes a comparable amount of air, is cheaper, has the perfect cable length and a 2-pin connector! The winner resigns!

Good for the right application

It doesn't move as much air as 40mm fans, which sound like jet engines, but they aren't designed to do the same job. This fan isn't as quiet and doesn't seem to move as much air as the Noctua I have, but it comes very close on both counts. This is probably a good choice for a Raspberry Pi case that accepts 40mm, or any other application where it blows directly onto the heatsink and you want quiet operation. I'm using one in a custom mount to cool a IBM PCIe quad core NIC and it works fine.

  • Case Fan
Cons
  • A lot

Noisy Electronics AF

Trying to replace the 4000RPM fan in my NVR security camera. boy it was a mistake Huge Wine is at least twice as loud as a standard fan when turned on, peaking at 60dB.

Cons
  • Expensive

Taped over TRX40 chipset fan cover, -4C

I have an Asus Strix TRX40-E gaming motherboard with hot chipset, it went from 76C to 73C after changing the thermal paste but it was still too very close to the "critical" temperature of 75Β°C that Asus uses to spin the chipset fan to 100%. Use 3M double-sided tape to "mount" this fan over the chipset fan shroud (with the chipset fan still running normally) and then some tape on the sides to seal airflow. 73Β°C -> 69Β°C. Good. It is set at 70% speed with constant current control. Heard (if you
