Well done. - Jewelery making tools and supplies

I have tested the accuracy of this device by placing some of my rings (of known size) on it and found it to be 10% accurate. That's enough for me because I don't buy or sell a lot of rings; If so, I would take one of the expensive ones.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Annoying

Suitable for measuring size

Suitable for measuring size. Not suitable for clamping rings. I used this with pure silver and beat the crap out of it. Worked but damaged the mandrel. However, I can still use it to stretch rings. Also note that when trying to resize the ring if hammered too hard without flipping the ring, the ring will narrow to the point where a hole is narrower on one side. In this case, it is almost impossible to bring the ring back into a symmetrical shape. As it slowly tapers from smaller to larger…

A bit misleading Ring mandrel

I bought the ring mandrel because I am a beginner in jewelry making and needed to make the rings more stable. After receiving it I tested it on another ring singer I have. Like the other reviewer, what struck me immediately was that the -5- or -6- marks are actually 5.5 and 6.5, respectively. In other words, the thick line between the numbers is the actual size, and the numbers with "*-" symbols are the 1/2 sizes. Apart from all dimensions, it is easy to work with and very easy to work with…

  • Quick change

Not what I ordered as shown on the main order page

The mandrel pictured was smooth but the one I received was rough. So if you have used it, it may be rough on your hands or not so slippery when making rings. The mandrel is filled with carrier oil. This part is normal. Will use it to straighten bent rings if this happens. This steel mandrel is marked 1/4 inch. So it was right. I ordered an aluminum mandrel which I like better and will stand up to forging when the rings are straightened. I use this to show how big my rings are. It would be nice…

  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Working speed

Good stick.

I bought this for my wife and these are her thoughts. It's made of durable metal (we think it's aluminum) and has clear size markings. Marking includes US and EU sizes. The size chart is actually a sticker that looks a lot like a sticker but how it looks like it's made of metal which is a good thing. The stick seems accurate, although we don't have a comparison. This wand was purchased to check ring sizes and compare rings to one another. It was NOT purchased for use as a ring "anvil" to drive…

Suitable for ring sizing

This large diameter metal ring sizer can be used for metalworking/jewelry making. You can tell the jeweler what size you want your rings resized to. For example, many jewelry stores only sell women's rings in size 6. Instead of trying to judge your size from those "ring blanks" that make your finger heavy at the jewelry store and impossible to measure accurately, use this tool and your own rings. (or a ring from a department store or discount store) to determine your true size. Then share this…

It's cheap and it works.

Was a little surprised by the negative reviews for this gauge but at this price and return policy the Revain is worth a try. Like the other reviewer, my sole purpose was to measure the ring my wife is wearing so I could buy her something else. Firstly, the size of the mandrel did not suit me at all. I think there must be some confusion, but like many ring tools you have to click on the furthest point your ring goes to and then read from below. If the ring sits loosely on the mandrel, it can…

Pros
  • Perfect for hobbyists, jewelers etc.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
