Solid Quality Mic with Great Features

Having used a solid quality shotgun microphone for years, I recently decided to upgrade to the Sennheiser MKE 400. The mic's shock mounts and foam windscreen work great outdoors on windy days. I can also easily switch between rycote and regular settings. The downside is that it's heavier than most mics. All in all, this Sennheiser MKE 400 is ideal for anyone looking for a handheld microphone that can handle both indoors and outdoors while delivering great sound quality. Highly recommended for…

Pros
  • Highly directional pickup pattern captures clear audio from the subject in front of the camera.
Cons
  • Requires a battery to operate, which can be inconvenient if it dies during a shoot.

Quality sound in a great, compact design

I needed a more compact microphone, but it was surprised at how good this dampening design sounds inside and out. And it has audio level control and filtering, as well as a headphone monitor jack. Best shotgun mic design in its price range.

Pros
  • Interchangeable 3.5mm TRS and TRRS connectors for DSLR/M cameras or mobile devices
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

My Tascam TM-2X Stereo XY Microphone sounded good, but picked up too much noise from the street and nearby air conditioners. So I bought a Sennheiser MKE 400 shotgun microphone. I wasn't thrilled about being able to shoot in mono, but my…
