I work in IT and am using this to migrate user data.

. Almost every PC has an SSD, so I needed an external SSD to speed up the migration process. I reduced the average migration time from 3 hours to 1.5 hours. I bought this device about 6 months ago and use it almost every day for migration: we're talking TB of data per week. I haven't had a single problem with it and it still works great.

Large amount of disk space, wish it could run at full speed for more than 30 seconds.

I bought this disc because as a filmmaker who shoots everything in 6k RAW I needed a fast transfer. I burn everything onto 1TB T7 discs (they get 1000MB) and transfer to that disc. It's really nice to have 8TB, but the write speed drops to 160MB/s after 30 seconds. I used to buy 4TB fast drives from Seagate (they've been discontinued) and they've been running at 250MB all along. I've tried many different cables and used TB3 ports, but it just can't keep up with its speed. The maximum I've seenโ€ฆ

good product - computers and accessories

The hard drive booted straight into my Mac and best of all its USB-C connection was very secure and didn't eject at the slightest movement like all other hard drives that USB-C that I have haven't had for a while, so I can't comment on their longevity. But so far so good.

UPDATED REVIEW: Works great now.

I bought this particular SSD to use as an external boot drive for my 2017 i5 5K 27" iMac. It was recommended by the software publisher Carbon Copy Cloner, which I use to clone my I used internal boot disk on this ssd. I first reformatted the ssd and then cloned my internal boot disk to it according to the instructions. I was very disappointed with the performance, it was very slow, especially on startup. The next day I went the whole thing thru steps again and I can say that it runs pretty fast
