Shimano BB in bottom brackets

started to crack after 2 days of riding. otherwise smooth but the only thing for me is that the bb started making a weird noise.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • The dented bottom bracket

Worked on my 73mm wide MTB with the original (smaller) locking ring

. When I used the locking ring that came with the bottom bracket, it protruded about 5mm from the frame. However, I was able to reuse my original locker and now it fits flush. In general the spindles are a few mm shorter but I think it will be ok.

Pros
  • , certified
Cons
  • , some issues

The size did not fit - the manufacturer specified incorrectly.

Just got around to installing this part - sadly past the return period. This is supposed to be a Shimano 68mm bottom bracket. As I found when trying to install it, it is 73mm wide. Can't fault the seller, 68mm is stamped on the part itself.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Updates

They have an advantage over the more expensive BB-UN95 et. Etc.

I got this bottom bracket for a project at a lower price because I couldn't find my regular BB-UN95 top model. more expensive models do not: genuine sealed bearings are available! In theory, this means that should the bearings fail in this model, you can remove and replace the cartridge bearings rather than buying a whole new assembly. What an amazing feature at a low price.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly

Great replacement for the original square taper bottom bracket

I finally replaced the original Shimano UN-26 bottom bracket in my 2001 Cannondale F500. All in all a fantastic price. Installation was easy with a crank puller and a 20 tooth BB tool. Pros: * It works (no more crunchy or popping) * Hard to beat the price ($24) * Overall weight is 94g less (354g old vs 251g new) * Aluminum cups for non-drive side vs plastic for old * Thread lock on threads Cons: * Very difficult to turn threads (I was very concerned about stripping) * The non-drive side shellโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Easy install and smooth rotation

I bought this as part of an overhaul on my entry level road bike. The factory bottom bracket was supposed to be a sealed bearing design, but it turned out not to be, and it was full of sand and metal shavings since the bike was made. This BB was used as a direct replacement and as part of a general upgrade to a matching groupset. The difference between the factory BB and this day and night is that the Shimano turns much more freely and with significantly less drag. I expect that component alone

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Minor issues
