Loose hub FH M 525 Deore

Set this to 7 speeds. 135mm Wheel to switch to 8 speed as I had to use components. This one fits. I tried another model (8,9,10 speed) but with a different spline. Good for commuter bike.

Almost a sure cure for a noisy hub

Bought a used bike and although everything worked fine the hub made an awkward noise when pedaling. So remove the wheel, take out the axle and bearing, unscrew the hub, take a new one and dismantle in reverse order. The axle and bearings were the usual nasty greasy cock ache, but it's all back together now and working fine.

  • nice thing

Good fit and finish

I bought this to convert an old Deore LX "Parallax" 7 speed hub to 8/9/10. I wasn't 100% sure it would fit, but I bought it anyway. Luckily it happened. Can't speak to durability yet, but it seems on par with most other Shimano clutch housings I've seen. FYI, it doesn't come with gaskets, dust caps, bearings or axle parts. Assembled socket body only as shown in the photo. Installation Process: I removed the axle and drive side bearings from the original hub. I then removed the original bushing…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Has issues
