Very happy with Shimano!

I recently purchased a used Cannondale Trail 5. The previous owner installed a set of Rockbros pedals. They looked good but seemed very thin. These Shimano GR500 pedals are a big step forward. I'm a big guy and need a set of pedals that I can rely on to help me reach my health goals. Shimano feels solid and offers good support. I also like the adjustable pens. I have attached some photos of Shimano next to my old Rockbros pedals.

Pros
  • Decent performance

Perfect pedal to replace my clipless pedals on my mountain bike

I used to have Shimano clipper pedals but rode them in tennis shoes and tried to keep my feet on the tiny clipless pedals. In the end I decided to replace them with these. Love them, they have little lugs to keep your feet from slipping and it's a wide solid pedal. They are a little heavy, which suits me. I wanted something permanent. I will not race with anyone.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Shimano's best sports quality

Flat pedals are the ticket to my city bike. There are too many urban situations where getting stuck can be dangerous. These pedals are all aluminum and a little heavy, but I don't mind. They're a lot wider and longer than the BMX pedals that came on the bike and they don't have any flex. The adjustable pins are a simple handy feature. They are typical Shimano quality and should last for years. I am happy with this purchase. Delivery was also very prompt.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Good pedal in every respect

Build quality is good. I expect them to process more hits. The adjustable pins are a nice feature. 18 pegs per pedal! They are also quite grippy when wet when the pegs are fully extended. I find fine tuning useless. IMHO they are not noticeable at all and do not stand out. Perhaps the biggest downside is the weight. It is difficult to make a bulletproof product that is affordable and lightweight. Conclusion: heavy and solid, grippy pedals that dig in and don't impress. A very practical pedal.

Pros
  • Elegant design

Well made, nice finish, pedals have a good grip

I am restoring a 1988 Nishiki Colorado and wanted new pedals to replace the sawtooth shank grinders that came with it. I saw these Shimanos and they looked like a good pair. They are very well made and have a beautiful brushed aluminum finish that goes well with the other brushed aluminum components on the bike (see photos). They can be a bit flashy and flashy on some bikes but are great on the Colorado. They have perfect grip in my opinion and the spikes on the cranks don't tear on the shins…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Bad impression
