Excellent helmet.: Protective gear

The only downside is I wished there was more noise isolation. I'm not the first to complain about the noise. My half helmet - ears in the wind - generates less noise pollution. (By the way I ride a 15 HD Street Glide with a Rush Big Louies 2.5" screen. But otherwise good head protection without sacrificing face wind and side visibility. Comes with visor so don't buy separately.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Almost never

Giant. Good but huge.

Great to finally have a helmet that fits me, 3XL is true to size and very comfortable. Unfortunately, this comes at a price. It's huge. There's a lot of foam on this thing. Is it possible to use another material that is thinner and protects the head but isn't as bulky? Still better than the half-helmet mushroom effect. This is my favorite helmet now and over time I will get used to wearing this behemoth on my head. It's also probably very safe, as it should be.

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Nothing here

First quality helmet I bought as a rider. Definitely worth the money as it is the most comfortable on long journeys. I went with the big one and it fits perfectly. Previous helmets ranged from large to XL, depending on the brand. The only point of criticism, a star deduction, the logo/sticker is too big. I don't like designer clothes, I hate wearing corporate advertising. the Shoei tag should be a bit smaller, better yet I'll probably just remove it with a heat gun.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Fits

Good helmet but visor rattles

Good helmet. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the rattling of the visor when it snaps into place. At freeway speed I got an annoying knock. I thought it was my fairing or windshield, but quickly found out it was the latches that kept rattling when the visor was locked. Visor removed and the rattling is gone. Even if you don't have a great desire to use a visor, it seems like a very solid helmet. Personally, I don't see any advantage in using a visor yet. With my Ray-Ban and myโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model

Finally a helmet that doesn't hurt glasses wearers

I've finally found a helmet that I can wear glasses on long or short trips without pain. I looked through 3 other helmets to find a comfortable fit. This helmet has grooves on both sides that can easily find and slide into my temples. As with all helmets, the tight fit is still awkward when putting the helmet on and off, while being uncomfortable on the ears. I don't find the noise level too bad when driving on major highways, but the sound is definitely there. I am 73 years old and ride aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Makes me angry

If your brain is more than $50, buy Shoei

I've been wearing Shoei helmets for a long time. I only wear Snell Foundation approved helmets as I find them to absorb and disperse hard impacts better than helmets from other manufacturers. In 2009 I was in a very bad motorcycle accident and my open Shoei received two very hard hits on the pavement. I offloaded and hit the road at about 45 mph and my head did a double impact, hitting the helmet hard in two places. When I wasn't wearing my Shoei, my . My head would crack like an egg and myโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
