Exact replacement OEM Shurflo

I installed this on my Shurflo pump 2088-554-144. Installation was easy and the fit and finish was as good as an OEM replacement. I will definitely buy again in the future if needed.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Slightly torn

This is the exact replacement.

My pump kept running. I was looking for a leak somewhere. Eventually I disassembled the pump and found a few micro-cracks on the discharge side (which allowed pressure to be released back to the supply side, causing the pressure switch to trip. We had a long freeze). Problem solved.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Repair

If you have a good motor, it's a lot better than spending $100.

In my case the pressure switch failed and started leaking. (This is the box above where the two wires connect). The engine itself was still fine. I installed this replacement part and the pump works better than before. There are no leaks and the pressure is like new again.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Reliability

Inexpensive repair: Fresh water systems

The Shurflo pump is a good quality pump with a big problem. Unless your boat or RV has a large storage tank, the pump pressure switch will trip too often and wear out long before the pump does. You can replace the entire pump for $150, or spend less than $20 on a new top case kit with a new pressure switch. You can change the case in 10-15 minutes and work another 2-3 years. I've done this twice already.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Doesn't work like the original.

Exact OEM replacement. It includes a new pressure switch and check valve assembly. UPDATE 01/14/17: It was installed and ran for over 6 months until the end of November. Just replacing this part turned into a nightmare! I have to change my guess to reflect the problem: the pressure regulator is operating at a much higher pressure than the previous one. We cannot adjust it below 55-60psi. Our system originally ran at 40-45psi and this higher pressure was causing a lot of leaks, this system was…

  • New

Great solution, but I have a better solution!

I have 4 pro blasters on my boat and 2 pressure switches have failed after a few years. I ordered this part and repaired one of them. However, when replacing the pressure housing and switch, I found that it is not necessary to change the entire housing. Only the micro switch in the housing. So for the second pump I ordered a microswitch (Omron #V-15-2C26-K) from Digikey for $2.50 plus $2.60 shipping and the problem was solved. You don't have to replace the entire switch body. There are 6 screws

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Volume
