Description of ⚡ Siemens Q120DF Circuit Breaker: Enhanced Functionality for Effective Performance

Faster, more cost effective installation to meet code requirements compared to installing an AFCI breaker and GFI receptacle. For use on Siemens load centers that accept UL type QFGA2 breakers. Siemens exclusive LED trip indicator pinpoints cause of trip. HACR, SWD, 120 Volt AC rated. The breaker requires power to run the self test / trip functions (will not test / trip when not installed).

No nasty dropouts, easy to install for those familiar with electrical work

Siemens Q120DF 20-Amp I got this to add a stack circuit to my panel where I wanted it and GFCI protection class A , and CAFCI protection (AFCI required, GFCI was optional by code). After reading a lot about AFCI in general (nothing special about the Siemens brand), I was worried about nasty triggers. Did I mention AFCI is now required by code? I had my main panel replaced a few years ago to rewire my house. I chose the Siemens panel mainly because of the availability of these switches at the…

  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • So far so good

Great protection but not compatible with some shop tools

Added 4 of these to my socket shop board. Installation is easy. It's not really an issue with the Switch itself, but some of my shop tools sometimes disable AFCI. The worst culprit is my Ryobi miter saw, which saves 30% of the time on startup. I like the quiet they give so I'll probably only switch the circuit back to GFCI once and move the obnoxious tools to that circuit. Given the cost, I'd like to buy one first and experiment before installing them on all circuits. As they become more…

  • New

Unreliable in my setup

Run a new 20 amp circuit and installed this switch for expected safety. The circuit has two sockets, a switchable LED ceiling light and a dawn to dusk (non-switchable) LED barn light. Once installed, the switch worked fine for several hours with the light on from morning to night, but worked at night. The same thing happened over the next three nights. The switch never worked right away, only at night in absolute dry conditions with a single wire as the only load. Eventually abandoned and…

Pros
  • Very good value for money

  • Unbelievable price

Meets new AFCI and GFCI requirements

Depending on where you live, the inspector can be very strict about what types of outlets need to be installed for repairs. I had a couple of outlets that the inspector said needed AFCI protection and being within 6ft of the sink required GFCI protection as well. He recommended using an AFCI switch and then adding tamper-resistant GFCI sockets. This setup can get expensive very quickly. Fortunately, I've found that these switches have a dual purpose, providing both AFCI and GFCI protection…
