Sierra International 18 3348 Water Housing Review

3 parts are missing. Only received the housing and 1 seal. Missing rubber pump, O-ring and plate. (Update) was able to use the original parts missing in the kit. In less than a year, the kit will have to be replaced again. This set is junk.

Pump fits properly. And all components were free from defects. The center hub needed a little tweaking. The O-ring for the housing had to be stretched a little and fixed with sealing glue. During insulation, the pump mounting surface became corroded and punctured. I fixed this by cleaning and filling the holes with Marinetex.

Always have a spare with you. They usually last a few years and FRY FAST (within seconds) if you run the engine dry (no water). Mine got so hot that the plastic encased steel body got so hot that the plastic broke off and allowed the cup to spin, reducing water flow. The engine was overheated. Not my first rodeo so I tested it first and 20 minutes later we were ready for the water again. Therefore, always carry a spare wheel with you so that your trip on the lake is not ruined.

It really matters whether you have water in the cooling system or not. When this little device in the sterndrive fails, it affects the amount of water that gets into the engine block.
