Sight word fishes best in my review

The fishes and the stick has a good magnet to it . But the blue plastic fish bowel is not what is shown on the picture. The game may not be appropriate for children who are not yet learning to read.

Pros
  • Learning & Education
Cons
  • The game may not be appropriate for children who are not yet learning to read

This teacher loves it!

I don't know why but I thought this might actually hold water. Well, it won't. Haha! It's a simulation but my students LOVE it. It comes with 2 magnets and lots of magnetic fish. I actually bought the one with words and simple math. The fish come separated by color. Only thing is, I wish there were lists per set of fish so that I could give answers for my students to fish out. I just asked my TA to create them. Easy day. Great for a math station!

Pros
  • Very nice, my grandson isn’t quite old enough yet, so I’ll hold onto it until he’s older.
Cons
  • The game may not be conducive to cooperative play, as it only allows for one child to play at a time

Great for Kindergarten

The wooden fish are great quality for kindergarten use! The words are printed well and the students love plotting the game and practicing their sight words!

Pros
  • My children love it. Perfect for learning sight words
Cons
  • The fish may have sharp edges or points, making it unsafe for small children who may put them in their mouths

Good game for kids on my review.

Its really good game for kids. I saw it in my friends house and buy for my little one. We love that way play together and teach a new words. Good quality and price. I recommend it to buy.

Pros
  • Loved this product and is a great way to learn to read!
Cons
  • The fish may not lie flat on a table or other surface, making the game difficult to play

writing is a tad hard to read

When getting the kids to learn to read, its important for the letters to be easy to read. On the fish, the lower case i looks like a lowercase L, and the u looks like an a. Otherwise, it is a great game, SO many fish with different colors. I wish it had more than 2 poles tho. Also theres not really any directions for the game so we just kinda winged it.

Pros
  • This is an awesome and durable game!
Cons
  • The game may only be played by one child at a time, limiting its entertainment value

Teaching a kid to fish will create strong readers

The kids ask to Play this game! The sight words are so important and this is such a fun way that they can do for years Gamenote.

Pros
  • Gamenote
Cons
  • The game may not be suitable for children who have difficulty with hand-eye coordination

LOVE this game for speech/language therapy!

I've got a kiddo with some learning and speech delays as well as ADHD. Flashcards to learn sight words just don't work for her or hold her attention. I've been looking for games that she can learn her sight words and develop her language more and I'm SO glad I found this! She loves this game so much already and it was crazy how much better she did trying to read the words in this game than with flashcards. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to help their kiddos learn sight words in

Pros
  • Helps to develop problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities
Cons
  • The game may not be effective in helping children learn sight words, as it does not provide any feedback or interaction beyond simply catching the fish

Perfect for pre-K to 3rd grade

Dolch words are the most common sight words for each grade level. Perfect way to have kids practice learning their words in a fun way. Each level is color coded. If a child misses a word, throw it back into the pond.

Pros
  • Good-quality Material: This Fishing Toy is made of high quality, natural solid wood, Good for Children. Strong and durable magnet, easy to catch the fish.
Cons
  • The game may not be visually appealing or engaging, causing children to lose interest quickly

Learning With a School of Fish

My students are excited and exhibit confidence when using this product. I am a special education teacher and having the Dolch words available in the game allows me to cover my four grade levels K-3 during RELA small group rotation. This keeps us on schedule and my students are delighted.

Pros
  • Helps to master common sight words found in children's literature
Cons
  • The game may not provide enough learning opportunities beyond simply recognizing sight words

PERFECT sight words learning game!

My kids BEG me to play this game! As my daughter develops her reading skills she gets better and better at this game. I couldn't be happier with the care and detail gone into this product.

Pros
  • Helps children to expand their vocabulary and communication skills
Cons
  • The game may not be appropriate for children who are not yet interested in learning to read

Fun way to learn sight words

Cute way to learn sight words and you could write more words on the back of these with a sharpie once they learn them all. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • 36 months - 8 years
Cons
  • The fish may have confusing or unclear sight words written on them, causing confusion for the child

My Kiddo loves this game!

My 1st grade daughter absolutely loves this game, and trust me she's not one of those kids that enjoys educational material either, In fact she hates reading all together she finds it to mundane and repetitive so this was a game changer for us. My daughter has went up THREE reading level in just two weeks of having this game, and she doesn't even know that she's learning! I would HIGHLY recommend using this as a reading tool for any kid that is struggling with reading or finds regular reading…

Pros
  • My 4 year old LOVE playing this game. Great interactive learning game.
Cons
  • The game may not be challenging enough for older children, as it is intended for ages 3-9

Fun way to engage children to learn sight words

This fishing set is the best way to get kids happy about learning and for some children reviewing their sight words. This product gets 4 stars. . I like how each sight word level is a different color. The fish pieces are well designed the only concern I have is: the lower case letter "i” looks connected like a lowercase letter "l” overall this product is great.

Pros
  • Includes 220 fish, providing ample opportunities for play and learning
Cons
  • The game may not be versatile enough to be used in a variety of educational settings

Fun way to learn sight words!

I got this for my son for his 3rd birthday. He is obsessed with the alphabet and learning sight words but flash cards have gotten a bit redundant for him. He loves playing this game and I think it will be a favorite for quite some time! It seems very well made. It has also been a good thing for us to play while he tries to potty train. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase!

Pros
  • Helps to improve memory retention and recall
Cons
  • The magnets on the fish may not be safe for children who have pacemakers or other medical devices

Nephew loves best in my review

My 2 yr old nephew loves playing with this. He knows it least half the sight words already but uts great practice for him and works on his fine motor skills also

Pros
  • Creative and engaging alternative to traditional methods of learning sight words
Cons
  • The game may not be suitable for children who have difficulty with balance or coordination

pool is poorly made

the fish and rods are great in this game I think they are excellent quality and well worth the money. however the pool doesn't stay up right and is way to short. I may need to buy a cheap inflatable pool to make this work. If you add a better pool I would rate this 5 stars!

Pros
  • My students and my own kids LOVE this game!! I ABSOLUTLEY recommend.
Cons
  • The packaging may not be durable or sturdy enough, causing it to fall apart or break easily

A favorite and versatile game

This game is a favorite of the children in my reading classes. It's bright and sturdy. There are many ways to use the game. A child who is just learning letters can catch a fish and say any letters he/shek recognizes. Those who know the words can read them and make oral sentences. In one group, a child who didn't know any letters yet, was the group fish-weigher. He counted the letters in each fish caught, and announced the weight of the fish --the number of letters in it. A great, simple and…

Pros
  • Can be used for individual or group play
Cons
  • The game may not be suitable for children who are not yet able to read or recognize sight words

Son loves it. - my new review

I love this game for my son. He’s in first grade and he’s behind on his sight words. My son suffers from autism level 2 and we’re in the process of getting him evaluated for add or adhd. It’s hard to teach him his sight words so I bought this game so that we can play it on family game night. I took the fishes with the words he needs to learn and once he’s got those down I’ll put in the rest of the fishes. But he loves this game at first he could only really get the easy words but now he’s…

Pros
  • Our little 5 year old loves playing this learning game
Cons
  • The game may not be appropriate for children who have difficulty with fine motor skills, as it requires them to use their hands and fingers to manipulate the fishing pole
