Best value for money

I have had this lens for 6 months and use it with the Canon T2i for holidays and business trips family events. The lens construction is robust and of high quality. The stabilizer and HSM work fantastic. The image quality is of course very good considering the typical limitations of a lens with such a wide focal range. I have some doubts about going there instead to buy the Tamron 18-270mm but now I am sure it is the best choice because of HSM and image quality I recommend it as a very useful…

Pros
  • 45cm/17.7" minimum focusing distance and 1:3.4 maximum magnification ideal for close-ups
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Really good all-round lens

Okay, I'm not a professional photographer, but I take really good pictures. I have this lens and two main Pentax lenses (f2.8 200 and 55) and I use a Pentax K-5. I've read numerous reviews, dpreview, and other websites, so yes, this isn't a $2000 Canon lens, but it's not a cheap lens either. I've used it for close-ups and sports, mainly soccer. It stretches very well, it's light and comfortable in the hand, and the focus is quiet and fast. (I've tried Sigma 70-200 f2.8, heavy. Pentax DA 55-300…

Pros
  • Four SLD elements and three aspherical lenses ensure high image quality throughout the zoom range
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Very good telephoto lens for the money

Bought, compared brands, read reviews of others. Sunsets and unforgettable skies as well as some family events. I needed something that would allow me to get relatively close-up shots while also getting telephoto shots of wildlife or distant landscapes, and not have to try to quickly change lenses when I wasn't at home, sometimes in a dusty wooded area. So this lens system for my Canon T2i/550 (for an entry-level DSLR) does the job perfectly. Having retired last year the funds are very low, I…

Pros
  • Equipped with its own unique technology Sigma OS (optical stabilizer)
Cons
  • Nothing here

Great travel lens

I bought this lens as the primary lens for my Sony SLT-A55, a necessary addition to my collection of non-18-55mm prime lenses. whale lens. In other words, it's the ideal DSLR travel lens if you want to minimize carrying multiple lenses and, perhaps more importantly, switch lenses where you might not want to. This lens is not intended for full-frame SLR cameras like the Sony A900, but for the Sony Alpha series APS-C sensors and similar SLRs from other manufacturers. Please make sure you select…

Pros
  • For Sony DSLRs
Cons
  • Hard to say
