It's not a perfect lens, but it's worth the money

It's not a perfect lens, but it's worth the money. This is a great all round lens that can be used in almost any environment. The focal length range of 18 to 300 mm is ideal for close-up and long-distance shots. This works really well for high ISO sports shots. I don't see any difference between my Canon 18-135mm lens (which I love) and shooting sports, except that I now have more range. For the price it is as good if not better than other more expensive lenses. I agree with other reviews…

The lens is excellent. for accessories

Actually much better than expected! I bought a 100mm macro lens at the same time and the results from both are very similar, although the Sigma 18-300 is much more versatile. I have no idea why I bought this kit although the filters might be worth it. The backpack isn't bad, but for a nickel more could it be made with two straps instead of one and a fifth? It would still look like a second year would wear it to school, but at least it would be sturdier. All in all the lens is exceptional and…

Very sharp lens in accessory kits

This is an amazing lens for the price. Very clear pictures! I shoot with a Nikon D7200 and this lens is better than the 18-140mm kit lens that came with the camera, also has a much longer focal length at maximum and is also a macro lens. A very versatile lens indeed. The "materials" that come with this supplier are fine. There are multiple filters, ND and clear, plus a monopod and "sling" camera bag plus lenses. I didn't buy this pack because of the 'things' that came with it, but the price of…

It's a travel wonder with a lens

I will be traveling to the Middle East very soon and wanted to take as few lenses as possible. I chose this lens which works well in the sun and early evening. It's not the best in low light though, especially at 300mm. That's why I also use a Canon 18-135mm lens for night shots. As a single lens solution, this works well. Take out the lens to rotate before exiting. I was expecting flare, vignetting and distortion at 18mm or 300mm but there was none! Here are some great shots! Came back from…

Bargain Accessory Kits

Like many other people I bought this lens so I don't have to carry multiple lenses with me when I travel. I wasn't disappointed - the lens performed very well in every situation, from dimly lit rooms to bright sunlight. The autofocus is fast and accurate. The image stabilization is very effective and the lens is very sharp for a super zoom. I've seen several reviews complaining that this isn't a "true" 300mm telephoto lens. My testing has shown that this is the result of "focus breathing", a…

Good all round lens

I took this lens on a recent trip to Southeast Asia and am happy with its performance. I wasn't expecting miracles, but I wanted a telephoto and wide-angle lens without changing lenses. I was expecting the autofocus to be slower than some other lenses I have, but there's one major problem: it doesn't focus from close to long focal lengths. It doesn't even seem to try. The solution is to spread the focus widely, autofocus on a distant point, then zoom in, then make minor focus adjustments. This…

My favorite lens is Accessory

First of all the lens is great, possibly the best travel lens you can buy. I also have an older Sigma 18-250mm lens that emits a slight buzz that can be heard if you hold it to your ear in a quiet room. I bought this as an upgrade and it is absolutely silent. The image quality is excellent and the telephoto range is sufficient for nature shots, including birds in flight. It's also light enough to be my everyday lens. I also have a Sigma 100-400mm lens, it's a lot bigger and heavier just for a…

Unfair test, but instructive.

I received this lens just yesterday. Today "tested" it on a Canon 24-105 f4.0 L lens. No doubt the Canon I tested with is sharp, especially since the APS-C camera's sensor doesn't take advantage of the edges of the Canon full-frame lens. Since the Canon L is a full-frame lens, the test isn't entirely fair. With comparable focal lengths, the Sigma performed very well. I tested wide open at 24mm, 50mm and 105mm and tested at f11. I also tested the Sigma on 18mm, 200mm and 300mm. The camera was on

Versatile but seems to have less than 250mm focal length

I bought this lens so I wouldn't have to keep switching between Nikon 18-105 and 55-200 while kayaking, bull kayaking or skydiving. He does just that! Works 100% with D7100 and D90. My main goal of not constantly changing lenses was achieved. But here are some things to consider. Observations: The zoom ring is tighter than any other lens I have, but not too tight. It just needs a more focused grip. Focusing is as fast as my 200mm but quieter. It moves backwards from all my Nikon lenses…
