Waste of money

I bought this card for the gameport as I have an old steering wheel and sidewinder pedals that use the gameport. I looked for the card on the website and it said they have 32/64 bit drivers for Windows 8 and they do. What they don't tell you is that the game port is only supported by 32-bit drivers. Waste of money as the game port is not working. I don't usually write reviews but I want to save someone in my situation time and money. I should mention that the sound part of the card works, but I

Soundwave PCI5.1 Distortion

I ordered the Soundwave PCI5.1 card after looking at the picture, the product description and reading the reviews for this model and the 7.1 version (both from SIIG). Good feedback. All I needed was 5.1 channels, so I ordered this card. The card I received didn't look like the picture in the description and was actually almost identical to the Sabrent SBT-SP6C 6-channel 5.1 surround-sound 3D PCI sound card that sells for $10 is sold less at a price of $9.99. If you're just looking for a cheap…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • So-so

Doesn't work in all PCI-X slots

Bought because I read on a blog that it works with Windows Server 2008 R2. The -x slot is compatible. Partly my fault, but the only clue was that it was a small picture. I should have studied it more closely. It was so cheap I decided to put it away in case anyone needs it in the future.

Pros
  • Good build
Cons
  • Market availability

Works for me on internal sound cards

I bought one of these but decided the drivers were too bloated and amateurish for my purpose and then threw the card away. I then found a now-deleted review that suggested there was a third-party driver for this C-Media chipset. I restored the card and the 3rd party driver and everything is fine now. I use this in addition to my professional Gina card so I can do 2 things at the same time. Search for the words "Dogbert" and "C-Media" on code.google.com.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Long delivery time
